MP35N alloy is a non-magnetic nickel-cobalt alloy with strength up to 300ksi (2068MPa), good ductility, good toughness and excellent corrosion resistance. The material exhibits resistance to vulcanization, high temperature oxidation and hydrogen embrittlement.

The unique properties of MP35N alloy result from work hardening, martensitic transformation and aging treatment. If the material is in a fully work-hardened state, the recommended working temperature can reach 399°C.

Application

MP35N can be used to manufacture non-magnetic electrical components and instrument parts used in fasteners, springs, medical, seawater, oil and gas wells, chemical and food processing industries.

Cobalt balance

MP35N is an inert metal. If it is more active than the metal, such as carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, Monel K series metal connected together and electrified, easy to produce electrochemical corrosion.

MP35N alloy has NACE MR-01-75 state, the hardness is Rockwell C35 (through special cold rolling and aging treatment, the hardness can reach Rockwell C48). (NACE MR-01-75 is a standard for sulfide stress cracking tolerance of metallic materials used in oilfield equipment.)

Machining

Any heat treatment state of MP35N is difficult to machine. MP35N machine plus parameters and Waspaloy similar, but better than Waspaloy.

Welding

MP35N can be tungsten gas shielded welding. In general, the welding performance of MP35N is similar to that of 304 stainless steel.

It is necessary to adjust the welding parameters to ensure that the heat input of each weld is low, which is about the 1/2 or 2/3 of the 304 material.

The study of tungsten gas shielded arc welding shows that the material in the annealed state has high welding efficiency. If a filler is required, the matching chemical composition should be selected.
